Get Ready for Summer 2025!

Hey everyone! I hope you had a good Memorial Day Weekend. I heard on NPR it was one of the busiest travel days ever. We didn’t do much, though. We needed a relaxing weekend. Mrs. RB40 said I’ve been going full out lately. Life has been so busy. I have to hit the gym, go to my ceramics classes, deliver catering orders, and take RB40 Jr to all his appointments and various activities. It’s nuts how many things he had on his calendar.

Last month he had 2 speech therapy sessions, an audiology appointment, debates, Ultimate Frisbee (3x per week), Wushu (2x per week), orthodontic appointments, debate, and other after school activities. Whew! I’ve been driving all over Portland. I needed a break. This weekend, I went to yoga, watched a bunch of movies on TV, and wrote this short blog post. Oh, we’re going to the County Fair on Monday. That should be a lot of fun. A relaxing weekend was perfect.

End of 8th grade

The Memorial Day weekend means the end of the school year for many students. Congratulations to all the graduates out there! Don’t miss my best advice to new college grads. As for the younger kids, enjoy your summer break! You don’t have many of these left before life gets real. That’s what I tell our son.

Unfortunately for RB40Jr, He still has 3 weeks of school left. That’s why we are staying home this weekend. We’ll travel after the school year finishes. 8th grade was a very good year for him. He made new friends and branched out more. He even joined the debate club. Those kinds of soft skill will be very useful in the future.

It’s amazing he is almost done with middle school already. These last 3 years flew by so fast. He had a hard time at first, but he grew to enjoy middle school. High school should be pretty good too. He already knows a lot of people so it shouldn’t be a huge adjustment. He’ll have to study a lot more, though. We need to boost his GPA for college admission.

Alright, that’s all I got today. Let’s keep this short so I can enjoy the last of the long weekend. Did you do anything fun?
